The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Business Analytics and AI (Predictive Analytics) at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing on July 1st, 2022 or earlier.

Title of position:

Professor in Business Analytics and AI (Predictive Analytics) at the rank of Assistant.




a) Teaching activities: The candidate should be interested in and able to teach in Business Analytics (BA) and/or Health Analytics (HA) at the undergraduate, professional, and graduate (MSc and/or Ph.D.) levels, and engage in supervision of graduate students. Experience in collaborating with industry and government organizations, curriculum development and program delivery in Business Analytics as well as mentorship to students engaged in Business Analytics and Operations research, are considered strong assets.

 b) Scholarly activities: The ideal candidate will have strong background, knowledge, and research interest in Business Analytics area with specialization in predictive analytics, or other domains dealing with analytics including Data Science, Operations research, Data Mining, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. The candidate must show potential to conduct high quality research and develop a strong, externally funded research program in Business Analytics and/or related fields that will result in top tier journals publications, participation, and publications in top conferences, and offer various training opportunities.

c) Academic service activities: The candidate will be an active member of the Business Analytics and Information Systems (BAIS) section. Additionally, administrative duties will be agreed with the section and the Dean.


    • Education: The candidate should have completed or expect to complete a Ph.D. in Business Analytics, Data Science, Operations research, Economics, or related disciplines.
    • Language: English and/or French. Passive knowledge of the other official language in Canada is a requirement for tenure. The ability to teach in both official languages is an asset.
    • Work experience:
      • A high-potential research program as demonstrated by articles published in high quality and high impact peer-reviewed journals in the area of Business Analytics or related disciplines. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a track record or potential in attracting competitive research funding and active engagement in the academic community.
      • Strong teaching competency at the undergraduate, professional, graduate levels as demonstrated by past teaching record and evaluations.

If invited for an interview, candidates will be required to give a presentation to faculty members and doctoral students.

Salary and Benefits Package:

Salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience where Assistant Professor salaries typically range between $94,000 and $130,000 per year. The University of Ottawa provides a complete and generous compensation package which includes long-term disability, basic group life insurance, supplementary health insurance, a University of Ottawa defined benefits pension plan, optional life insurance and funds for reimbursement of eligible moving expenses. The School also offers a start-up period with a reduced teaching load and start-up funding for research.
