The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Information Systems and Cyber Security at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing on July 1st, 2022 or earlier.

Title of position:

Professor of Information Systems and Cyber Security at the rank of Assistant.




a) Teaching activities: The candidate will be interested in, and able to teach courses related to Information Systems and Cyber Security, such as Business Technology Management, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Information Security, and Digital Transformation at the undergraduate, professional, and graduate (MSc and/or PhD) levels, and engage in supervision of graduate students. Experience collaborating with industry and government organizations, curriculum development and program delivery in these areas as well as student mentorship, are considered strong assets.

 b) Scholarly activities: The ideal candidate will have a strong background, knowledge, and evidence of research productivity in Information Systems with a focus on Cyber Security. The candidate demonstrates potential to:

  1. Conduct high quality research and develop a strong, innovative, externally funded research program in Information Systems and/or related fields;  
  2. Publish in top tier IS journals and top IS conferences; and
  3. Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

c) Academic service activities: The candidate will be an active member of the Business Analytics and Information Systems (BAIS) section. Administrative duties will be agreed with the section and the Dean.

Cyber Security is a strategic area of research and innovation at the University of Ottawa. This is also an important area of research and education globally both in private and public sectors. The University of Ottawa aims to become a globally recognized university in Cyber Security research and education. Recently, in partnership with IBM Canada, the University of Ottawa has launched a Cyber Security Hub attracting researchers and expertise in the field with funding from both private and government organizations.     • Education: The candidate should have completed or expected to complete a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems or related disciplines.
    • Language: English and/or French. Passive knowledge of the other official language in Canada is a requirement for tenure. The ability to teach in both official languages is an asset.
    • Work experience:
      • A high-potential research program as demonstrated by articles published in high quality and high impact peer-reviewed journals in the area of Information Systems or related disciplines. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a track record or potential in attracting competitive research funding and active engagement in the academic community.
      • Evidence of teaching competency at the undergraduate, professional, and graduate levels as demonstrated by past teaching record and evaluations.

Salary and Benefits Package:

Salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience where Assistant Professor salaries typically range between 94 000$ and 130 000$ per year. The University of Ottawa provides a complete and generous compensation package which includes long-term disability, basic group life insurance, supplementary health insurance, a University of Ottawa defined benefits pension plan, optional life insurance and funds for reimbursement of eligible moving expenses. The School also offers a start-up period with a reduced teaching load and start-up funding for research.
