Position purpose:

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager/Test lead is responsible for the successful delivery of assigned information technology projects within budget, on schedule, in accordance with the approved scope, all within established project methodologies. Contributes to the delivery of the program of projects by workingcollaboratively with the Management team on the Program advancement and by leading various portions of projects especially the testing phases. 

In this role you will:

  • Project Management: Manage the delivery of assigned information technology projects through all states of project life cycle from initiation to project close out to ensure project outputs are being delivered as per project objectives, on schedule, to budget and to the required quality. Identify and manage all project issues and risks to mitigate impacts on projects. Escalate more complex issues and risks to the Senior Project Manager, Program Director and Program Managers for guidance or resolution.
  • Testing: Participates in the development of test plans for the different systems by using best practices.  Prepares test cases and scenarios,reviews results to ensure the system meets the functionality, performance, reliability, and security requirements specified by the clients. Plans, develops, executes test strategy and defines test progress-monitoring and reporting process. Defines and communicate the defect management process  and leads the daily triage meetings.
  • Proactive Leadership: Provide recommendations, solutions and approaches to fix systems and operational problems. Work with other managers to establish effective resolution strategies. Report to management on daily activities and problems to assure good continuity of services to clients.

What you will bring:

  • Post-secondary certification (bachelor’s degree preferred) in computer science or business administration
  • PMP certification is an asset
  • Minimum of five years of related experience in supporting business units and their information technology needs;
  • Experience in using project management/testing methodologies, systems, techniques and industry standards and best practices;
  • Knowledge of various project management methodologies (e.g. agile/scrum)
  • Experience in customer service to act as a resource person, to evaluate customer needs, communicate technical concepts in a non-technical manner and to convert client’s business requirements into technical specifications;
  • Experience performing analysis and evaluations of technical business processes, identifying needs, providing recommendations, preparing functional requirement documents and project managing implementation initiatives;
  • Experience with ERP implementations an asset.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, under pressure and with very firm deadlines;
  • Ability to guide management in the acceptance of business solutions that align both the strategic goals of the University and the client’s needs;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with university business clients, external vendors and technical resources;
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and priority-management skills;
  • Bilingualism - French and English (oral and written);
