Salary (Grade: 09)

Hiring salary range
$59,723-$75,440

Position Purpose

Advises graduate students on academic progress, from admission to graduation, to ensure they have an outstanding, satisfying experience. Performs administrative tasks such as assessing admission and graduation files, approving course selection, managing theses, completing forms, verifying processes and overseeing students. Develops strategies and programs to increase enrolment and retention rates as well as to increase visibility of the University, its programs and its faculty services by promoting them at on- and off- campus events.

Essential Qualifications

University degree, preferably in management
Experience in education or academic advising
Knowledge of both undergraduate and graduate programs (regulations, degree requirements, prerequisites and course descriptions)
Substantial knowledge and experience concerning revising, interpreting, communicating and applying processes, policies and methods in individual cases of varying complexity
Experience providing client service
Experience developing job search strategies for students
Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), word processing, Windows and the internet
Experience in mentoring or coaching (an asset)
Strong communication skills
Ability to solve problems, make decisions quickly and negotiate with students
Organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work within tight deadlines
Listening skills, diplomacy and discretion
Good judgment, independence and keen sense of professional ethics
Flexible schedule allowing for occasional participation in evening or weekend events
Bilingualism — English and French (spoken and written)
